Making headlines when achieving a Celtic Under-20 debut aged just 13 back in October, Barcelona turned down the chance to land Karamoko Dembele last year, report The Mirror.
According to the story, Barcelona had convinced Dembele that his footballing education would be best spent in Spain ahead of pulling out of a deal through fear of enraging FIFA.
Having previously been slapped with a 14-month transfer ban for signing international prodigies under the age of 18-years-old, the Spanish giants’ scouting of Dembele ended up in disappointment.
According to Spanish publication Sport, the Camp Nou outfit had been watching Dembele at numerous youth tournaments but given he is still at the tender age of 13, a transfer was out of the question.
More recently making his Scotland Under-16 debut against Wales in the Victory Shield recently, Dembele will remain at Celtic Park to continue the early stages of his development.
As the years progress, Dembele would be wise to avoid the route taken by Islam Feruz who has witnessed his career pale into obscurity after trading Celtic Park for Chelsea in a controversial transfer back in 2014.
