Andre Ayew

Somebody who has returned from injury lately has been the Hammers’ £20 million summer arrival Andre Ayew although it’s looked as if he’s needed games to simply get back up to speed.

Yet to truly show West Ham United fans what he’s all about, the jury is also still very much out on whether he’s an out-and-out striker.

The short answer to that is probably ‘no’ with the Ghanaian international powerless to winning anything in the air against Stoke City’s Ryan Shawcross prior to the international break.

Facing two giant centre halves in both Kevin Wimmer and Jan Vertonghen tomorrow, it is important that Ayew has runners alongside him so that he isn’t bullied off the ball too often.
