John Obi Mikel could be on his way to Manchester United in a shock January deal from Chelsea.
According to a report in The Sun Jose Mourinho is ready to raid his old club for the defensive midfielder who was part of a bizarre transfer deal in 2005.
United agreed a deal with Lyn Oslo and paraded the midfielder in a United shirt but after a strange set of circumstances the player signed for Chelsea with a £4m compensation fee arriving at Old Trafford.
Mikel has yet to feature for Chelsea this season but it’s believed that Mourinho sees the 29-year-old as the perfect foil for Paul Pogba.
Despite the rivalry between the two clubs Chelsea are unlikely to stand in the way of a January move which will get a meaningful salary off the wage bill.
Mikel is contracted to Chelsea until the end of the season but there has been no talks or suggestion that he may have a part to play under Antonio Conte
