Chelsea will open contract talks with Diego Costa and Thibaut Courtois early in the new year.

According to a report in The Standard the club are keen to discuss new deals even though both players are under contract until 2019.

With the new television deal sending salaries even further through the roof both players could easily increase their earnings with a move elsewhere.

Courtois and Costa were both linked with moves to Spain last season but with Chelsea back on track under Antonio Conte contract talks are likely to be much more friendly.

Real Madrid have been regularly linked with Courtois who spent time across the city at Atletico but the prospect of a new improved deal and the return of Champions League football is bound to be a powerful combination.

Costa is the top scorer in the Premier League with 10 to his name so far and seems to have found a kindrid spirit in Conte to appreciate his style of play.
