Premier League side rivalling Leeds United in January pursuit

|

Linked with a January transfer to Leeds United in recent days, Premier League outfit Stoke City have joined the Whites in the race to land Linus Wahlqvist, report the Daily Star.

According to The Sentinel, Mark Hughes’ Potters are now keen on the young Swede who currently plays for IFK Norrköping in his homeland while landing two senior international caps to date.

A full back who can also operate at centre half, 20-year-old Wahlqvist has also recently handed hope to potential suitors too after claiming he fancies a change of scenery.

Speaking about progressing his career, Wahlqvist claimed: “After three seasons in the base I feel ready for a new challenge, but I am also happy.”

While Leeds United can’t offer Wahlqvist Premier League football right now like Stoke City can, Belgian giants Anderlecht are also trailing the defender so this pursuit will be anything but straightforward.

However, with fellow Swedish international Pontus Jansson currently relishing his loan spell at Elland Road, Leeds United supporters will be hoping he can put a good word in to Wahlqvist.
