He moved to La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna on loan back in July but Carles Gil is already unhappy at the Spanish club and could return to Aston Villa early, report the Birmingham Mail.

Having been named in six matchday squads with Deportivo thus far, Carles Gil has only started two games and is yet to complete a full 90 minutes with the Riazor-based outfit.

In no uncertain terms, the 23-year-old spoke to AS recently while claiming: “I’m not happy, I’ve been playing little and I’ve been injured. But I’ll change that.

“Who knows if I go back there (to Aston Villa), if I stay in England or here… In football, you never know. I don’t think in long term.”

Also struggling with injury in his spell at Deportivo, Carles Gil’s return to Spain just hasn’t panned out the way he envisaged.

Having already mentioned about potentially returning to Villa Park, a move back to the West Midlands is clearly within the Spaniard’s thinking.

However, the Birmingham Mail’s report claims there is currently no concrete indications whether Steve Bruce’s Villans could activate an option to recall Carles Gil ahead of schedule.
