Linked with a transfer to Newcastle United recently, the representative of Racing Genk defender Wilfried Ndidi has claimed there has been no concrete interest from the Magpies, report AllNigeriaSoccer.com.

Rumoured to be an £8 million target of Rafael Benitez this January, not to mention Premier League sides Tottenham and Watford, Ndidi’s agent has now poured cold water on the speculation.

He claimed: “Ndidi came for national team duties, no talks have taken place with Newcastle United, Watford and Spurs. And Genk will definitely tell me if the interest is concrete.”

Despite being just 19-years-old, Ndidi has already won two senior international caps with the Nigerian national side while having made 30 Belgian Pro League appearances for Racing Genk.

Newcastle United raided Belgian football to sign both Chancel Mbemba and Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht in 2015 and previous reports claimed Magpies scouts have been deployed across the English Channel to watch Ndidi this season.

However, according to the latest speculation, it is simply just rumours at the moment with Racing Genk’s Brand and Communication Manager, Willem Boogaerts claiming: “I have no information on the interest from Newcastle United, I know nothing about that.”
