Reportedly still interesting West Ham United, Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Odegaard is set for a transfer to French side Rennes in the January transfer window, report talkSPORT.

According to Spanish source Marca, both the Hammers and Liverpool are set for New Year disappointment with the young Norwegian set to continue his footballing education in France.

Making his senior international debut for Norway aged just 15 and 253 days in August 2014, Odegaard is extremely highly rated but has only made one first team appearance for Real Madrid.

Seeing a proposed summer transfer window switch to Rennes fall through due to age restrictions, Odegaard turns 18 in December so the expectation is that the Ligue 1 side can finally sanction the temporary arrangement.

Having made over 50 appearances for Real Madrid Castilla, Odegaard has received his fair share of opportunities at that level but Zinedine Zidane is clearly focused upon the starlet now receiving more opportunities in a higher quality of competition.
