Representing Celtic between 2007 and 2009, former Bhoy Massimo Donati is set to remain in Scottish football until 2019 after signing a new two-year deal with Hamilton Academical, report Sky Sports.

Having joined Accies back in July, the 35-year-old Italian has made nine Scottish Premiership appearances for Martin Canning’s side who currently sit ninth in the top flight standings.

Joining the New Douglas Park side this summer following a two-year stint with Bari, Donati has enjoyed a long playing career that has spanned 17 years to date.

A £3 million arrival at Celtic Park back in June 2007, Gordon Strachan relied upon Donati a lot in his first season in Scotland with a last minute winner against Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League representing a highlight.

Enduring a forgettable 2008/09 campaign with the Hoops, Donati spent four separate spells at three Italian clubs following his initial stint in Scottish football but he will now see out his professional career north of the border.
