While Ronald Koeman recently claimed he’d welcome Wayne Rooney at Everton, the Manchester United star has no interest in departing Old Trafford before 2019, report HITC.

According to the Daily Mail, the England international wants to see out his current contract with the Red Devils meaning a much talked about Everton transfer reunion would be off the cards.

No longer an automatic first choice selection under Jose Mourinho, Rooney has grown used to a bit-part role so far this term, fuelling rumours that the 31-year-old could seek pastures new.

According to HITC’s report, Rooney actually boasts a clause in his contract whereby he can stay for a further year until 2020 on an eye-watering salary of £230,000-a-week plus bonuses.

A Manchester United player since 2004 of course, it would appear that despite Rooney’s much publicised shortcomings so far this season, the former Toffees forward is still extremely comfortable in his current surroundings.

As for other Everton transfer targets this January, the Toffees continue to be linked with Rooney’s Red Devils team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger as well as Roma’s Kevin Strootman.
