He was one of Iceland’s stars of their surprising Euro 2016 campaign and now, Everton face competition from Tottenham to land Bristol City defender Hordur Magnusson, report HITC.

The Robins signed the 23-year-old for £2.5 million from Juventus in the summer and having started every single Championship fixture for Lee Johnson’s side this term, Magnusson has turned heads with his consistency.

Everton bolstered their defence with the signing of Ashley Williams in the summer but with the Welshman over 30 and Phil Jagielka not getting any younger either, somebody such as Magnusson represents a potential successor.

Outside the Toffees and Spurs’ interest in Magnusson, HITC’s report also claims that four other Premier League teams have been scouting the Icelander over the past few weeks.

With competition for Magnusson’s signature fierce, Everton will also have to stump up a handsome fee for the centre back with Bristol City in no rush to sell.

It is rumoured that Magnusson is rated at around the £10 million mark and it remains to be seen whether Ronald Koeman deems this an acceptable fee for a player who is still making his name.
