Celtic star ready to give up on first team hopes in January

|

Yet to make his Scottish Premiership debut for Celtic, young Hoops midfielder Kristoffer Ajer has admitted he could complete a loan switch this January transfer window, report the Evening Times.

The 18-year-old Norwegian star was signed by Ronny Deila back in February but has only made the Bhoys’ first team squad once under Brendan Rodgers for the Hoops’ 3-0 victory over Lincoln Red Imps in the Champions League qualifying stages.

Coming on for a cameo appearance on that occasion, Ajer hasn’t figured since and Ajer has claimed a loan move is probably the best thing for his development.

Ajer claimed: “If we agree with the club and we find a team where I am going to play, then it is a possibility.

“At Celtic, I am still a kid. It’s different from Norway when people think you are too old when you are 18! Here you are a boy until you are 22.”

Referring to the fact Celtic are a “long-term project”, Ajer still clearly envisages his future at Parkhead but only afforded development fixtures so far this term, you can see why a loan switch makes sense this January.
