Currently on a season-long loan to Saint-Etienne, Aston Villa star Jordan Veretout has spoken out about the poor treatment he suffered from former Villans boss Tim Sherwood, report HITC.

A £7 million arrival from Nantes in July 2015, Veretout made 25 Premier League appearances for Villa last term but many of these came under French compatriot Remi Garde.

Speaking to France Football about his lack of opportunity under Sherwood, Veretout claimed: “He [Sherwood] told me I was a member of the team, that there was competition and the best players would play.

“I played two games, then I wasn’t anymore, even if I was part of the group.”

Unable to prevent Aston Villa from being relegated following 28 seasons of consecutive top flight football, Veretout is currently a regular starter under Christophe Galtier at Saint-Etienne.

Starting eight out of nine Ligue 1 appearances for Les Verts so far, Veretout has also been able to showcase his talent in the Europa League this term, making three appearances in that competition also.
