While they’d naturally like to be higher in the Championship standings right now, Leeds United supporters can feel relatively pleased with their ninth place right now.

Into the last eight of the EFL Cup to boot, there is more of a feel good factor around Elland Road this season with the West Yorkshire giants aching for Premier League football after 12 long years away.

Heading to Carrow Road to take on one of the Championship promotion favourites in Norwich City on Saturday, it was the Canaries who Garry Monk’s side recently dumped out of the League Cup on penalties.

With the East Anglia side having stolen away Jonny Howson, Robert Snodgrass and Luciano Becchio from Elland Road down the years, Leeds United fans harbour some ill-feeling towards Alex Neil’s team.

But as for the Whites’ 2016/17 campaign as a whole so far, at least this particular Leeds United side has shown potential with so many false dawns or alternatively, just plain disappointment having set the tone in previous seasons in West Yorkshire.
