Inter Milan were reportedly winning the race to sign Matteo Darmian but now, Barcelona and Juventus have emerged as new rivals for the Manchester United defender’s signature, report Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish publication claim Barca want Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin as their priority replacement for Aleix Vidal but if they can’t sign the 21-year-old, Darmian is another viable option.

Darmian is firmly out of the first team picture under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford right now having only started a single fixture against Feyenoord in the Europa League so far this term.

Seemingly one of the first players to exit the Red Devils in January, it appears a three-way bidding war may commence for the Italian international who isn’t short of suitors despite a lack of consistent first team football.

With young defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah having got the start over Darmian in United’s EFL Cup assignment at Northampton Town, it appears there is no way back for the former Torino man, barring an injury crisis at present.

Starting his Old Trafford career positively under Louis van Gaal, the 26-year-old was never truly able to get back to his best following an injury suffered last term.
