Manchester United reportedly made an approach to sign him but the Red Devils are missing out on the signature of Rodrigo Bentacur with Juventus agreeing a deal for the Uruguayan, report IBTimes.

According to the publication, the Bianconeri have triggered an option to purchase 50% of his rights from current club Boca Juniors, equating to £6.7 million.

The reason why Juventus have seemingly won this particular transfer pursuit is down to the fact that the Serie A giants had first option to sign Bentacur as part of the deal that saw Carlos Tevez join Boca Juniors in July 2015.

Only making his Boca first team debut last year, the 19-year-old has been highly coveted with Arsenal, Real Madrid and AC Milan all having been credited with an interest in the past.

A central midfielder who is also capable of playing wide on the flanks, news of Bentacur’s Old Trafford snub comes as a double blow to Jose Mourinho’s men.

This is because the Red Devils also got nowhere in their pursuit of fellow teen Fran Villalba who committed to Valencia by signing a new four-year deal recently.
