Having missed out on signing him in the summer, Everton could be set to resurrect a swoop to land Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal in January, report Ladbrokes News.

The 24-year-old has only started two Ligue 1 fixtures so far this season and this week, Ghezzal’s representatives mentioned that the Toffees “made a great offer financially” in the past transfer window.

Failing to achieve regular game time at Parc Olympique Lyonnais so far this term, Ladbrokes’ report claims that Everton will go back in for the Algerian international who had agreed a £9.5 million switch to Goodison Park before seeing a switch break down.

Yet to sign a new contract with the French giants, this will offer hope to Ronald Koeman and Everton that they can pull a deal off at the second attempt.

With Ghezzal’s current deal at Lyon expiring at the end of the current campaign, this fact should also buoy Toffees fans with Lyon needing to decide whether to cash in this January or risk losing him on a free this summer.

The fact Lyon have used Ghezzal sparingly this term comes as something of a surprise given the fact that the winger managed to notch up an impressive record of eight goals and eight assists for Les Gones last season.
