Given Branislav Ivanovic’s slump in form, twinned with the fact Chelsea fans haven’t really seen a great deal of Marcos Alonso so far, it is vital that Cesar Azpilicueta stays fit.
For the Blues’ most recent game at Hull City, Azpilicueta reverted to right back to deputise for the dropped Ivanovic while Alonso came in at left back.
In many ways, Chelsea are thin on the ground when it comes to depth in the full back areas with only young Ola Aina having experienced the EFL Cup thus far.
