He’s still currently the youngest player to have made a debut in Ligue 1 and now, Watford are rivalling Arsenal for the signature of Toulouse goalkeeper Alban Lafont, report talkSPORT.

A record breaker due to the fact his Ligue 1 debut came aged just 16 years and 310 days, Walter Mazzarri’s Hornets have been scouting the teenager ahead of hoping to conclude a January transfer.

Arsenal’s interest in Lafont was reported by The Express back in September who claimed that Arsene Wenger was keen on Lafont being Petr Cech’s deputy whose own deal is up at Emirates Stadium in 2019.

Looking at the options reportedly available to Lafont right now, it may prove appealing for the 16-year-old to remain with current club Toulouse.

With Lafont having started all of Toulouse’s Ligue 1 fixtures so far this term, to join either Watford or Arsenal would mean being a back-up choice to the likes of Costel Pantilimon and David Ospina, let alone Heurelho Gomes and Petr Cech.
