Their big game against Manchester United ended in stalemate last night but with one eye on the future, Liverpool have taken Uruguayan striker Agustin Davila on trial, report the Daily Mail.

Under Alex Inglethorpe’s careful eye for a two-week period, the 17-year-old striker has scored in excess of 100 goals at youth level and is an Under-17 international for his country.

Currently attached to Uruguayan outfit Atletico Penarol, Davila turns out for their youth affiliate Juveniles Penarol and now arrives on Merseyside as a result of the Reds’ extensive global scouting efforts.

Clearly delighted to receive a shot at trying to sign for one of the world’s biggest clubs, Davila couldn’t help retweeting a post from the Juveniles Penarol Twitter account which disclosed details of his Liverpool venture.

Although he has to impress in his two-week spell in England, Liverpool are quite well stocked for forwards at the moment with Danny Ings and Divock Origi struggling for game time under Jurgen Klopp.

With Roberto Firmino the out-and-out first choice at the moment, even Daniel Sturridge is struggling with confidence in playing a withdrawn role behind the Brazilian.
