He represented Liverpool between 1991 and 1994 and now, former Reds striker Ronny Rosenthal has claimed Divock Origi must leave Anfield for the benefit of his career.

Operating as a football agent nowadays, Rosenthal was speaking to VoetbalBelgie.be when claiming that the Belgian international needs game time at this stage of his development.

“If you receive only five minutes of playing time, then it’s damn hard to try and play football in the spotlight,” claimed Rosenthal.

“For Liverpool, it is a luxury that they can leave a player with such talent on the bench but for Origi himself there is only one way out:. a loan move as soon as possible.”

Still waiting for his first Premier League start this season, the 21-year-old will be expected to forge a part of Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven for the Reds’ EFL Cup fourth round tie against Tottenham this evening.

However, Rosenthal believes that a bit-part role won’t suit Origi going forward with Roberto Firmino the undisputed first choice striker under Klopp at present.

In the Premier League to far this term, Origi has appeared off the bench seven times so far and it remains to be seen whether the former Lille striker will push for a temporary loan switch this January.
