Manchester United were linked with the signature of Genk’s Leon Bailey yesterday but Ajax are rivalling the Red Devils for the Jamaica’s signature, report ClubCall.

The latest is that Bailey’s father has revealed the Amsterdam giants have also declared an interest in the winger with his immediate first team prospects much higher in the Eredivisie.

Jose Mourinho has previous in pursuit of 19-year-old Bailey who caught the Portuguese boss’ eye when in charge of Chelsea last season.

However, no deal came to fruition due to the fact that Bailey would’ve become one of the Blues’ loaned out players with Chelsea currently boasting 38 players on temporary agreements this season.

Impressing in both the Belgian top flight as well as the Europa League so far this term, Bailey has already scored five goals in ten appearances for Genk so far this term and is very much a talent on the rise.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bailey but as far as regular first team football goes, perhaps a move to Ajax would suit him and his development right now.
