His contract extension talks have hit the buffers in Napoli and now, Italian international Lorenzo Insigne is reportedly tempted to join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, report talkSPORT.

A Naples native himself, Insigne is holding out for a new deal worth over £100,000-a-week at his one and only permanent club so far but Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reluctant to bow down to player pressure.

One of Naples’ favourite sons since making his Serie A debut back in 2009, the diminutive Insigne has scored 22 goals in 131 league appearances for the Partenopei and news of his contract impasse has alerted the Reds.

With Tottenham also reportedly sniffing around the situation, it is claimed Insigne is a fan of Jurgen Klopp’s high intensity football at Anfield.

With Insigne looking like a player who fits Jurgen Klopp’s mould on paper, the 25-year-old is capable of playing in multiple roles across the front line.

A versatile forward much like Roberto Firmino who has been leading the Reds’ line so far this season, Liverpool fans will hope that Napoli don’t succeed in tying Insigne down to improved terms in Italy.
