He ended up staying with Lyon yet again this summer but now, the French club have claimed they turned down bids of almost £50 million from two Premier League clubs for Alexandre Lacazette, report Football365.
Recently speaking to Italian source Tuttosport, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas revealed the true extent of how much money came in for their prized asset.
“This summer, we rejected €55m (£49.7m) for Lacazette from two Premier League clubs and €37m from Napoli for Tolisso,” claimed Aulas.
Back in July, Arsenal had a £29 million bid for Lacazette turned down and the question now is whether Arsene Wenger’s men were one of the clubs to improve that to nearly £50 million.
Another interested party was of course West Ham United who are surely one of the two clubs in question with Jean-Michel Aulas having already made it public knowledge that Lyon rejected a mammoth £42.7 million bid from the Hammers.
Starting the season in typically prolific form for Lyon, French international Lacazette has scored six goals in his opening five Ligue 1 appearances so far.
If the Gunners did submit a bid close to £50 million, this would’ve gazumped the initial £38.2 million they paid Real Madrid for Mesut Ozil in September 2013.
