He’s been on the books of Fiorentina since 2014 but Chelsea are now interested in signing Viola midfielder Milan Badelj, report TribalFootball.com.

According to Italian sourceĀ La Nazione, the 27-year-old advisers are already claiming this will be the Croatian international’s last season in Florence amidst interest from both the Blues and AC Milan.

There appears to be more to this particular rumour than others given the fact that Fiorentina manager Paulo Sousa dropped Badelj from the Viola’s recent 3-5 victory over Cagliari amidst his distraction.

An unused substitute on that occasion, Badelj had been a regular starter under Sousa so far this season so it appears the club are taking a hard line with him right now.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Badelj would have to battle N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic if Chelsea could strike up a deal.

What’s more, the Croatian would also be reunited with Marcos Alonso whom he shared two full seasons with at Stadio Artemi Franchi.
