Tottenham duo feature in best Premier League XI so far

|

Currently sitting third in the Premier League table after five games, Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has named two Tottenham stars in the best Premier League eleven so far, report Sky Sports.

With Mauricio Pochettino’s men yet to be defeated in the top flight this term, Spurs defenders Kyle Walker and Toby Alderweireld made Le Tissier’s cut at this early stage.

Conceding the fewest amount of goals (2) in the Premier League this term, Tottenham’s defence is looking particularly stingy yet again and that is in no small part down to the contributions of Walker and Alderweireld.

An £11.5 million signing from Atletico Madrid in July 2015, Alderweireld has been particularly impressive with the Belgian international having started every single Premier League game for Tottenham since arriving from La Liga.

As for Walker, the former Sheffield United man was England’s first choice right back at Euro 2016 ahead of Nathaniel Clyne and it appears he is enjoying the best form of his career right now.

Also making up Le Tissier’s defence were Southampton’s Virgin van Dijk and Everton’s Leighton Baines in front of Sunderland stopper Jordan Pickford who was impressive at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

In midfield, Le Tissier selected Michail Antonio, Fernandinho, Etienne Capoue and Kevin De Bruyne while up top, the Saints legend opted for a duo of Chelsea’s Diego Costa with Liverpool’s Sadio Mane playing slightly behind.
