He was a summer transfer window target for Liverpool but the Reds’ hopes of signing Lorenzo Insigne have now been dashed with the Napoli man keen to stay with his current club, report talkSPORT.

The diminutive 25-year-old winger has spent his entire career playing for his hometown club Napoli and the Italian international recently moved to quash speculation over his future.

Speaking to Calciomercato after the club’s 3-1 victory over Bologna in Serie A on Saturday, Insigne claimed: “I am not thinking about it [a contract extension] but I want to stay in Naples.

“We will try to find the right solution for both myself and the team.”

Signing Sadio Mane for £34 million from Southampton in the summer of course, the Senegalese has started life brilliantly at Anfield meaning a move for Insigne is hardly imperative right now.

However, it appears that Jurgen Klopp will have to look elsewhere for any further attacking midfield additions with Insigne not ready to walk out on his beloved Serie A employers just yet.
