Yann M’Vila to Arsenal
The classic Arsenal transfer that never was!
In many ways, Yann M’Vila is probably praying he once forced through a move to Arsenal given the way in which his career has subsided since being highly rated as a young player at Rennes.
On loan with Sunderland last season while seeing a Deadline Day move to Wearside fall through this time around, M’Vila is out in the wilderness with Rubin Kazan at present.
But it was actually an elongated spell between 2009 and 2013 whereby Arsenal were incessantly linked with a move for the then young French international.
Speaking last year, Arsene Wenger claimed: “He had a few off-the-field problems but it looks like now he’s stabilised and he’s of course a very good player who is a regular player in the national team in France.”
It appears M’Vila’s temperament was the determining factor in Arsene Wenger never pushing a transfer through and to this day, Gooners still sometimes joke that M’Vila is still in Arsenal’s medical room, awaiting the green light!
