He was the Gunners’ match saviour at Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday but Arsenal are struggling to tie down Alexis Sanchez on their own terms, report The Independent.

Today’s report claims Arsene Wenger’s side are close to opening contract talks with star duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis although the Chilean international is reportedly keen on a pay rise and installation of a release clause into his contract.

Currently on wages amounting £130,000 per week, Alexis’ current deal at Emirates Stadium runs out in 2018 and despite being content right now, additional reports from The Mirror claim he is only keen to sign an extension under his own requests.

Alexis enjoyed a scintillating debut season for the Gunners, striking 25 goals in all competitions back in 2014/15 before registering 17 last season in an altogether more injury-hit campaign.

Nevertheless, Alexis is revered by Gunners supporters as one of, if not their best player so securing his long-term future is paramount in their eyes.

Joining the North London side from Barcelona in 2014 of course, Alexis has won one FA Cup with Arsenal (2014/15) while securing two FA Community Shield titles (2014,2015).
