While the summer transfer window has recently closed, Liverpool and Tottenham are both keeping tabs on River Plate striker Lucas Alario, according to Metro.

The 23-year-old recently won his first ever senior caps for Argentina, appearing in games against Uruguay and Venezuela, and the Premier League duo are keen on triggering his £15.2 million release clause.

Boasting a prolific goalscoring record having scored 11 times in 19 appearances for River Plate since signing from Colón in June 2015, Alario’s star is most certainly on the rise.

Out of both sides, today’s report claims that it is Liverpool who are most keen on Alario with Jurgen Klopp taking a liking to interchangeable players such as Roberto Firmino who bagged a brace against Leicester City at the weekend.

With Alario also able to adapt to multiple positions across the front line, he appears to be a player in the Reds’ mould and there is no denying where the player would like to be playing in the future.

Speaking about his plans going forward, Alario claimed: “Like every player, I dream to play in Europe at some point in my career.

“For that, first I have to make things right at River, to keep growing and learning.”
