When Arsenal were drawn out of hat against Paris Saint-Germain in Group A of the Champions League, the pair certainly looked evenly matched for top spot.

But with the duo meeting at Parc Des Princes tonight, former Arsenal striker Nicolas Anelka has backed the French side to come out on top this evening.

Also representing the French champions during his long career of course, Anelka believes that home advantage will count for a great deal for Unai Emery’s side tonight.

In quotes reported by Metro, Anelka claimed: “I have no preference because they are both huge clubs and they both look to play good football. It will be an exceptional match because neither Arsenal nor PSG are sides who sit back and defend.

“Nonetheless I think Paris will win the first leg as they will be playing at home.”

PSG have experienced several changes in personnel, not to mention the replacement of Laurent Blanc with Emery since Manchester City eliminated them last term.

Despite Zlatan Ibrahimovic departing for Manchester United of course, not to mention David Luiz re-joining Chelsea, PSG are still a massive threat with the likes of Angel Di Maria, Edinson Cavani and Lucas Moura to call upon.

While FC Basel and Ludogorets also make up Group A, Anelka isn’t concerned that either of his former sides could struggle in this rather straightforward-looking group.

“They [PSG] always make it out of the group stage. It will be these two sides fighting it out for top spot,” continued Anelka.
