European giants made shock Deadline Day enquiry for Chelsea star

|

Chelsea shocked everybody when concluding a deal to re-sign David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain on Deadline Day but the French giants made a late enquiry to sign Diego Costa, report The Express.

Failing to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic who joined Manchester United this summer, Unai Emery’s French champions reportedly enquired about Costa to fill the void left by the Swedish talisman according to France Football.

However, Antonio Conte moved to deny any deal taking place and Spanish international Costa currently leads the Premier League goalscoring charts with five strikes to his name so far.

Other than Diego Costa, Chelsea only boast Michy Batshuayi as another out-and-out striking option with Loic Remy having joined Crystal Palace on loan despite getting injured early in his Eagles spell.

With top class strikers thin on the ground in the transfer market, one man who is pleased with the current number nine role he is enjoying is Edinson Cavani who was often forced to play out wide under Laurent Blanc.

Now the undisputed first choice centre forward at PSG, Cavani did flatter to deceive when last seen against English opposition however, missing several chances despite opening the scoring against Arsenal in a 1-1 draw earlier this month.
