He was an unused substitute against Swansea City on Sunday but David Luiz is in line to make his second Chelsea debut in Friday evening’s clash with Liverpool, according to Eurosport.

The news comes after John Terry was ruled out for 10 days with foot ligament damage after suffering the injury late on at the Liberty Stadium in the 2-2 draw.

The shock transfer of Deadline Day alongside Jack Wilshere’s loan move to AFC Bournemouth of course, Luiz re-joined the Blues in a £34 million deal from Paris Saint-Germain.

Sold to the French champions for £50 million back in 2014 of course, Luiz – who has been awarded the number 30 shirt at Stamford Bridge – was previously a fan favourite in West London despite his cavalier playing style.

Not covering himself in glory with some of his defending down the years, there is no denying Luiz’s battling qualities and ability to bounce back from adversity.

Regarding Terry’s injury, a Chelsea club statement today read: “John Terry’s injury suffered in Sunday’s game at Swansea is strained ligaments in his foot. He will be out for approximately 10 days.”

Terry’s injury won’t only rule him out of Friday evening’s Premier League meeting with Liverpool but also the Blues’ EFL Cup meeting with Leicester City on September 20th.
