5 key issues Mourinho needs to address at Man United ASAP

Drop Wayne Rooney or play him as a defensive midfielder

For how long has Wayne Rooney been treading water as Manchester United captain now?

The short answer is too long!

Lining up as a number 8 in Manchester United’s starting line-up right now, Red Devils supporters can’t think why Jose Mourinho is designating him in a position he just doesn’t seem to have the legs for.

Rooney’s days as a number nine were well and truly over when Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived in the summer, not to mention Marcus Rashford’s rise to fame so therefore, he’s retreated back into the midfield.

But right now, Mourinho really has to look at what he’s getting out of the England international and in his current position, it’s not pretty.

Rooney has been so ineffective that some United supporters have called for him to be benched but as captain, a realistic move could be to move him into Marouane Fellaini’s position where he can dictate the play from deep.
