West Ham set to seal deal for attacking midfielder

|

It has been a busy summer at West Ham, with no less than 8 players brought in so far by Slaven Bilic – and it looks like another is set to come…

Amid rumours and speculation linking Wilfried Bony and Simeone Zaza with a move to West Ham United, Slaven Bilic is seemingly set to seal another signing over the next few days – but it will be neither Zaza or Bony.

According to The Guardian, West Ham are set to complete a move for Edmilson Fernandes, currently playing for Swiss club Sion.

They report that the move will cost around £5.5 million, and a medical will take place today (Wednesday).

Whilst deals for Bony and particularly Zaza looked to be developing quickly, it would appear that Bilic is primarily concerned with getting a deal done for Fernandes first.

A relatively unknown name in England, Fernandes came through the Sion youth system, and at 20-years-old, is definitely a player for the future.

A natural number 10, Fernandes differs from the two other attacking midfielders signed by Bilic this summer, Gokhan Tore and Sofiane Feghouli, in that his preferred position is just behind the striker, as opposed to out wide.

Standing at 6ft 3, he is a far cry away from the stereotypical twinkle-toed short attacking midfielder that the Premier League is used too…

Not much else is known about the talented attacking midfielder, but this short compilation video should give the West Ham faithful something to get excited about…

West Ham fans – how do you feel about this deal? Excited to see what he can do?
