Did anyone actually know that he was still on the Chelsea books?

Marko Marin joined Chelsea in 2012, made 6 league appearances and has now left the club for Olympiakos, Chelsea have confirmed on their official website.

The signing in 2012 made sense; Marin was a great talent but regularly suffered with injuries.

Chelsea will surely have felt that with the advanced medical technology available to them, they would be able to push the German winger past his troubles.

Unfortunately, that simply wasn’t possible.

He made just 6 league appearances during his opening season, and then spent the rest of his time on the Chelsea books on various loans across Europe.

He largely failed to solidify a regular first-team spot at any point throughout his time with the Blues.

His most successful spell was with Trabzonspor in Turkey, where he amassed 24 appearances during the 2015/16 season.

Whilst Olympiakos will have to contend with Marin’s recurring injury troubles, they are definitely getting themselves a top quality player.

He possesses all the qualities of a top attacking midfielder, with ball retention, dribbling and key passes all important parts of his game.

His height does limit his aerial success; but what attacking midfielder is strong in the air?

Before joining Chelsea he was quite the YouTube compilation star, as the video below shows…

4 years. 6 games. 143 minutes. Marko Marin’s time at Chelsea was certainly not one to remember for the German maestro.

Chelsea fans – Sid you know that Marin was still at the club? Do you think Chelsea should have given him one more chance?
