According to reports from The Daily Star, Arsenal are ready to rival Manchester United in the battle to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer.

The Sweden international is regarded as arguably the greatest striker of his generation, winning domestic titles throughout his spells with Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG.

The 34-year-old has netted 148 times during his four seasons with the latter club but looks set to leave Parc de Princes on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.

Manchester United have been linked with a swoop for the 6 foot 5 front man and The Daily Star claim they’re prepared to offer him a two-year contract with £250k per-week wages.

But the British tabloid further allege that Arsenal are ready to rival the Red Devils for Ibrahimovic’s coveted services ahead of the summer transfer window.

That is despite manager Arsene Wenger insisting he wouldn’t move for Zlatan earlier in the season, telling reporters; “We are not on Zlatan’s case.  But even at 34, he’s had a great season at PSG.”
