According to reports from The Daily Star, Arsenal and Manchester United have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Senegal international moved to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in summer 2014 and has since emerged as one of the top centre-backs in Serie A, this season averaging 2.5 tackles, 2.5 interceptions, 3.8 clearances and 2.6 successful aerial duels per match.

The Daily Star claim the 24-year-old is on Barcelona’s radar ahead of the coming transfer window – coinciding with reports from Spain alleging the Catalans will administer a defensive overhaul this summer.

But citing Italian publication Il Mattino, The Star further report that Arsenal and Manchester United are both tracking Koulibaly as well in a bid to bolster their respective defensive ranks.

However, Napoli are determined to hold onto their star defender. They’re planning a contract offer that will extend Koulibaly’s stay at the club until 2021, include a £31.5million release clause and double his salary.
