According to Berliner-Kurier, a Liverpool scout has recommended Union Berlin striker Bobby Wood; whilst The Express report that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing an improved contract for Harry Kane to fend off transfer interest from Manchester United.

Liverpool’s unnamed scout was sent to Germany to check on Taiwo Awoniyi earlier this month, a Reds youngster currently on loan at Freiburg. But as they lost 4-0 to Union Berlin, he found himself more interested in the German capital outfit’s prodigious striker Bobby Wood.

The 23-year-old has netted 14 times in 24 second-tier appearances since agreeing a transfer from 1860 Munich last summer, nine of which have come in his last eight league outings. He’s also represented Team USA 14 times at senior level, scoring four goals.

The scout is believed to have recommended Wood as a potential Liverpool signing, but a number of clubs are said to be tracking the 5 foot 10 forward ahead of the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, The Express report that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to issue star striker Harry Kane an improved contract. The 22-year-old has bagged 55 goals in 94 appearances across all competitions since becoming a Spurs regular at the start of last season and looks set to lead the line for England at Euro 2016.

He agreed a five-and-a-half-year contract at White Hart Lane last season but Spurs are keen to issue him a new deal that would raise his earnings from £35k to £100k per-week and make him the best-paid player in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

One of the benefits would be stopping any chance of a summer transfer to Manchester United. The Red Devils are long-term admirers of the 6 foot 2 striker and recent reports have claimed Jose Mourinho will make Kane their No.1 transfer target if he takes over at Old Trafford as expected this summer.
