The transfer rumour mill never stops churning and today it’s thrown up a particularly tasty story, with reports claiming PSG are preparing a £50million bid for Liverpool’s star striker Daniel Sturridge.
Only Luis Suarez boasts a better strike-rate for Liverpool throughout the Premier League era and the England international’s overall return since sealing a January 2013 transfer to Anfield is nothing to be sniffed at, netting 47 times in 81 appearances across all competitions – including 39 goals in the Premier League.
But of course, the 26-year-old’s goal tally is juxtaposed by his continous injury problems, which have seen him manage just 17 Premier League appearances since the start of last season.
So with PSG proposing a sum that would constitute the joint-second-largest transfer fee received in Liverpool history, along with Fernando Torres, it’s understandable that the Merseysides could be tempted into a deal this summer.
But the biggest question is whether Liverpool can find an adequate replacement during the summer transfer window. With that in mind, here are FOUR strikers who could fill Sturridge’s potential void at Anfield.
