According to reports from The Sun, Barcelona have hinted they will allow Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur target Marc Bartra to leave the club during the summer transfer window.

Despite remaining highly-rated at the Nou Camp, the Spain international has failed to hold down a consistent role in the first team since his 2010 debut, going on to register just 100 appearances across all competitions and just three starts in La Liga so far this season.

With his contract set to expire at the end of next season, making the coming transfer window Barcelona’s last opportunity to acquire a decent fee for the La Masia product, a number of clubs have been linked with the 25-year-old’s services in recent weeks – most notably Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

And according to The Sun, the Champions League title holders have suggested they’ll sanction the centre-back’s departure during the summer transfer window.

The British tabloid quotes technical defender Robert Fernandez as saying; “We have many good players and it is difficult to compete in a team like Barcelona. For us anyway, Bartra is a major player. He will always be in our plans and future ideas. He was born and raised in our home, but his personal situation could lead to a separation from the club.”

However, United and Spurs face competition from Fiorentina and FC Porto for the £10million-rated defender’s signature.
