Edinson Cavani (2)

According to reports from The Daily Star, PSG have slapped Chelsea & Manchester United strike target Edinson Cavani with a £40million price tag.

The Uruguay international boasts 71 goals in 128 appearances for the Parisians, including a strike against  in the Champions League on Tuesday night and 31 goals across all competitions last season, but his Parc de Princes career could come to an abrupt end this summer.

The former Napoli star has rarely refrained from publicly criticising his secondary role to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, often deployed out wide to accommodate the Swede as a lone frontman, and earlier this week, Cavani’s father claimed the 6-foot striker is ‘suffering‘ at PSG.

Likewise, manager Laurent Blanc not-so-subtly hinted last month that he’d be prepared to sell Cavani and coincidentally, his PSG contract will enter its final two years come the summer transfer window – the club’s last chance to sell before their £55million signing’s market value begins to rapidly depreciate.

Manchester United were reportedly considering swoop for the South American during the January transfer window and have recently been linked with a £35million bid from the summer, whilst Chelsea are believed to have already held preliminary talks regarding a summer transfer to Stamford Bridge.

But according to The Daily Star, PSG have informed the Red Devils that they must fork out an almighty £40million to sign Cavani this summer. The potential fee is well within the financial reach of United and the Blues, especially with a £8billion TV deal coming into effect next season, but they seem unlikely to pay it for a striker who turned 29 earlier this month.
