According to reports from Brentwood Gazette, West Ham are preparing an ambitious £15million transfer bid for Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Despite often demonstrating his prodigious ability, the England international is now into his fifth season at the Emirates and is yet to forge a regular slot in the Gunners’ starting Xi.
The 22-year-old has managed just nine Premier League starts so far this season, finding himself jostled around a variety of midfield roles and scoring only once, and resultantly seems unlikely to earn a place in Roy Hodgson’s squad for the summer’s European Championships.
A move away could be required to revive his career – a loan switch to former club Southampton was speculated during the January transfer window – and Brentwood Gazette claim West Ham are ready to provide it.
Indeed, the local newspaper reports the Hammers are preparing an ‘audacious’ £15million bid for the summer transfer window. They’ve never been the most reliable of sources but loan signing Victor Moses is the only out-and-out winger in West Ham’s squad, an issue Oxlade-Chamberlain’s potential arrival would address.
