According to reports from Mirror Football, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ‘stepping up his interest’ in Watford striker Odion Ighalo.
The Nigerian international helped fire the Hornets to the top flight last term with 20 Championship goals and has continued to impress this season, netting 14 times in 26 Premier League outings.

The 26-year-old’s potent haul this season, bettered by only three players throughout the Premier League, has not gone unnoticed by the division’s top clubs – especially amid news that Watford are preparing to sell and replace him with Granada starlet Isaac Success during the summer transfer window.
Indeed, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were all linked with the 6 foot 2 goalscorer earlier this month but the latest reports from Mirror Football suggest the Gunners are taking the initiative in the race for his signature.
The British tabloid claims Arsene Wenger will look to strengthen his strike force this summer but not necessarily with a high profile signing. Ighalo certainly fits the bill in that regard and the Gunners gaffer is resultantly ‘stepping up his interest’ in the £20million-rated poacher.
