In his column for London Evening Standard, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has hinted at interest in signing Marseille star and Tottenham Hotspur target Michy Batshuayi.

The Belgium international has been in fine form this season, bagging twelve goals and seven assists in 25 Ligue 1 appearances for a Marseille side languishing in mid-table, and has attracted interest from the Premier League for some time.

Indeed, an unnamed English club reportedly saw a bid rejected last summer whilst recent reports have linked West Ham, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs are reportedly ‘stepping up‘ their interest in the former Standard Liege starlet with the view to securing a deal before Euro 2016, where his value could potentially soar depending on his involvement in Belgium’s progression through the tournament. He’s currently rated at £25million.

But in his column for London Evening Standard, Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has suggested he will also look to sign the 5 foot 11 forward if he becomes available during the summer transfer window.

He wrote in the London-based publication; “Speaking about the future, I see we are being linked with some top strikers for next season already — including Michy Batshuayi from Dimitri [Payet’s] former club, Marseille.

“Yes, he is a very good player and I have known him for some time, since he played for Belgian club Standard Liege before going to France. We tried to sign him when I was at Besiktas but it was mission impossible at that time, partly because of the transfer fee but also because he wanted to stay closer to England, Germany or Spain.

“He is one of top strikers in Europe so there will be much interest if he is available. Also we have to assess the situation with our strikers because we have good ones here, some who are playing and others who are injured.”
