According to reports from Mirror Football, Arsenal and Newcastle United target Michael Carrick has rejected a potential transfer to the Chinese Super League.

The England international has lifted five Premier League titles, a Champions League title and a League Cup during his ten campaigns at Old Trafford but could leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

A potential move to the Chinese Super League was reported last week and according to Mirror Football, several Chinese clubs have contacted the 34-year-old’s representatives regarding a transfer to the Far East.

But the British newspaper claim Carrick has rejected their advances in a bid to earn a new contract with the Red Devils – providing a boost to the reported transfer plans of fellow admirers Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Should Carrick’s new deal fail to materialise, the Premier League duo will look to sign the veteran midfielder on a free transfer during the summer window.
