Jamie Vardy

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Leicester City will offer star striker Jamie Vardy a new contract in January to fend off interest from Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

The England international’s mesmerising form this season, bagging 15 goals and three assists in 20 Premier League appearances, has helped fire the Foxes to second in the table – whilst setting a new PL record of netting in eleven consecutive fixtures in the process.

Despite turning 29 later this month, the division’s top clubs have found themselves continually allured to the former non-leaguer. Manchester City and Manchester United have both scouted Vardy this season, whilst Chelsea’s interest has escalated since the appointment of interim manager Guus Hiddink last month.

Not only is the 5 foot 10 striker impeccably industrious and enjoying one of the greatest purple patches ever witnessed in the Premier League, he’s also not cup-tied in the Champions League and would seriously weaken Leicester City’s chances of a top four finish if he left the King Power Stadium this month – making him an incredibly attractive proposition for his aforementioned suitors.

But according to The Daily Mail, Claudio Ranieri’s side are optimistic of agreeing a contract extension in the coming weeks that will rule out any chance of a January departure. It could also double Vardy’s current wages beyond the £80k mark – which the club view as affordable now that their Premier League status is secured for at least another season.
