According to London Evening Standard, Roma are considering a bid for Chelsea defender Gary Cahill; whilst The Guardian report that Tottenham Hotspur are close to agreeing a deal for Fulham striker Moussa Dembele.

It was revealed earlier this week that the England international is pushing for a shock Stamford Bridge exit just eight weeks after signing a four-year contract, amid fears his place in Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2016 squad has come under threat due to a lack of game-time.

The 30-year-old has started just eleven Premier League fixtures this season and only one since Guus Hiddink took the managerial reigns from Jose Mourinho last month, with the Dutchman seemingly preferring Kurt Zouma and John Terry at centre-half.

According to LES, that has alerted Serie A side Roma, who are looking to strengthen their backline for the second half of the season and certainly have a bit of money to spend after flogging former Arsenal winger Gervinho to Hebei China Fortune for £11.5million. However, Chelsea are unlikely to let the veteran defender leave unless they receive a huge offer.

Meanwhile, The Guardian report that Tottenham Hotspur are close to agreeing an initial £5million deal for Fulham striker and long-term target Moussa Dembele – no relation to the Spurs midfielder of the same name.

The 19-year-old has bagged eleven goals across all competitions this season and Spurs have been linked with his services continuously over the last few months amid their search for an understudy to Harry Kane, in no small part due to his Craven Cottage contract expiring at the end of the season.

Fulham were reluctant to let the Frenchman leave, currently laying just four points above the Championship’s relegation zone, but they’re now willing to accept a £5million fee plus performance-related add-ons – which have been described by The Guardian as ‘significant’.

Contrary to prior reports, Spurs are no longer expected to loan Dembele back to the west Londoners for the remainder of the season.
