Five January signings to help solve Liverpool’s outrageous injury crisis

Far from the fabled days of using just 14 players to win the top division title, Liverpool now have a whopping thirteen stuck on the sidelines due to injury as they attempt to gather momentum in the race for Champions League qualification.

Indeed, the Reds have so many players out injured one budding writer has dubbed a section of their crocked cohort ‘the hamstring seven’, having all been hit by the same ailment over the last few weeks, whilst six of their team-mates also find themselves stuck in the physio room.

Kolo Toure, Jon Flanagan, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi, Philippe Coutinho, Martin Skrtel, Jordon Ibe, Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Rossiter, Jordan Henderson, Danny Ings and Joe Gomez are all out for varying periods, ranging from next weekend to the end of the season.

The good news for manager Jurgen Klopp, however, is that Liverpool’s injury crisis has come at the start of the January transfer window, giving the Anfield gaffer the chance to draft in some emergency reinforcements and keep the club’s Premier League top four hopes alive.
