Bendtner

According to reports from The Express, Newcastle United are in line to bring former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner back to the Premier League before the close of the January transfer window.

The Danish international departed for Wolfsburg in summer 2014 after almost a decade at the Emirates, amassing 47 goals in 171 appearances across all competitions and spending seasons on loan with Birmingham City, Sunderland and Juventus.

But the Bundesliga outfit are set to offload the 6 foot 4 front-man either on loan or permanently this month after netting just nine times during the last one-and-a-half campaigns – only three goals of which have come in the German top flight.

Citing German publication Bild, The Express claim Newcastle United are leading the charge to sign the 27-year-old amid their January search for added firepower. Although talks between the two clubs are yet to get underway, Bendtner is said to be incredibly interested in returning to the Premier League.

A move to Danish side FC Copenhagen has also been mooted.
